This resource contains a Christmas Tree base mat, multiple pages of decoration manipulatives, and task cards with tree decorating building challenges.
There are multiple ways to use this resource including:
Creative Play: Use the tree and decorating manipulatives to build your own Christmas trees. Ask learners questions such as, “How many lights does yours have?”, “What color star do you have on your tree?”, etc.
Listening Comprehension: Place a tree in front of the learner and an assortment of decoration manipulatives. Call out commands such as, “Place a yellow star on top of your tree”, ”put a blue bulb on your tree”, etc. To make it more difficult, you can integrate positional words in your commands such as, “place a blue bulb between a pink and a green bulb”.
Visual Discrimination Puzzles: Present a tree, assortment of decoration manipulatives, and the anchor cards to the learner. Have them select one anchor card and use the manipulatives to recreate the picture on the card on their own tree.
