Build A Sandcastle Visual Discrimination & Listening Comprehension Puzzles

This sandcastle activity set gives you a base mat, shelves and flags manipulatives, sandcastle building pieces, and task cards with building challenges.

You can use this resource in different ways:

Creative Play

• Let learners build their own sandcastles using the mat and pieces
• Ask simple questions like:
  • “How many starfish are there?”
  • “What color are the flags?”
• Build on the premade mat or create a new design using individual pieces

Listening Comprehension

• Give verbal instructions while learners build
• Example commands:
  • “Place 2 starfish on your sandcastle”
  • “Add a blue, pink, and orange flag”
• Increase difficulty by adding position words:
  • “Place a shell on the right side”
  • “Put an orange starfish next to a green one”
