This week, students will read and explore Eyes That Kiss in the Corners by Joanna Ho as they learn about self-confidence, beauty, and celebrating the unique qualities that make each person special. Through discussion, vocabulary, and story analysis, students will focus on visualizing details from the author's words to uncover the story's theme of self-acceptance and pride in one's identity. Learners will discover that our differences are something to celebrate and that beauty comes in many forms. Students will also read Lovely by Jess Hong as a connected text, exploring how every person brings something valuable to the world and how our differences make our communities stronger.
