This week, students will read and explore Home Is In Between by Mitali Perkins as they learn about identity, belonging, and what it means to feel at home. Through discussion, vocabulary, and story analysis, students will focus on visualizing the setting and understanding how it shapes the character’s experience. Learners will explore themes of culture, belonging, and identity while recognizing that home can exist in more than one place. Students will also read The Many Colors of Harpreet Singh by Supriya Kelkar as a connected text, exploring how our identities are made up of many meaningful parts that help us feel connected and whole.
