This week, students will read and explore Neither by Airlie Anderson as they learn about belonging, inclusion, and celebrating differences. Through discussion, vocabulary, and story analysis, students will focus on using clues from the words and illustrations to infer how changes in the setting affect the main character's thoughts and feelings. Learners will discover that true belonging comes from being accepted for who we are rather than trying to fit into someone else's expectations. Students will also read Red: A Crayon's Story by Michael Hall as a connected text, exploring how embracing our authentic selves allows us to discover our strengths and create communities where everyone is welcome.

Each Belonging in Books unit is built around a high-quality read-aloud and carefully designed to:
