Rock Identification Sort - Igneous, Sedimentary, Metamorphic

This rock identification sorting activity includes 15 different rocks and minerals for students to classify into the categories Igneous Rock, Sedimentary Rock, and Metamorphic Rock.

The resource also includes a “rock collection box” where students can sort small versions of the rocks by both name and rock type. A blank version of the collection box is also included, allowing students to create and organize their own rock collections.

This hands-on activity is a great way for students to practice identifying and classifying rocks and minerals, making it a perfect addition to lessons on rocks, geology, and Earth science.
