September Big Kid Bins Low-Prep Shelf Work and Centers for 1st-2nd Grade

So what are they?

Each month includes 16 print-and-go, no or low prep activities designed specifically for 1st and 2nd grade learners. The activities provide meaningful practice with the academic skills students are learning throughout the year while encouraging independence, problem solving, and critical thinking.

Throughout the collection, students will practice math, phonics, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, critical thinking, logic, and more through hands-on activities that feel fun and engaging rather than repetitive worksheets. Every activity includes all of the needed printables along with an "I Can" card that visually models what students need to do. Simply place the materials in a bin or on a shelf, add the I Can card, and students can get started independently.

How can you use them?

These activities are designed to fit seamlessly into your classroom or homeschool routine. Use them as morning bins, early finisher work, literacy or math centers, independent practice, intervention or enrichment activities, small group instruction, Montessori shelves, homeschool learning stations, or even substitute plans. Think of this bundle as having someone rotate your centers, shelves, and independent work for you every month of the school year.

Will I need anything else?

Yes, but don't worry! I've included a complete materials list with links to any additional supplies you may need. I also made sure those materials are used throughout multiple months so you won't be purchasing items that are only used once. Most of the activities use classroom staples like math cubes, dice, spinners, counters, magnetic letters, dominoes, base ten blocks, pattern blocks, dry erase sleeves, and other manipulatives that you likely already have in your teaching toolbox or will use throughout the school year.

What age/grade are they for?

I designed these activities for 1st and 2nd grade students, generally around 6–8 years old. However, as with all of my resources, every learner develops at their own pace. Some advanced kindergarten students may be ready for portions of the activities, while some 3rd graders may continue to benefit from the extra hands-on practice. Each month includes a variety of activities with different skill focuses, making it easy to differentiate and choose the ones that best meet the needs of your learners. By the end of the year, you'll have a library of more than 200 engaging, print-and-go activitiesthat can be used year after year.
