This week, students will read and explore The Most Magnificent Thing by Ashley Spires as they follow a young inventor’s journey of trying, failing, and improving her design until she creates something she is proud of. Through discussion, vocabulary, and story analysis, students will focus on visualizing events and describing how the main character changes throughout the story. Learners will explore themes of perseverance, patience, and learning from mistakes while recognizing how inventors improve their ideas through repeated effort. Students will also read Izzy Gizmo by Pip Jones as a connected text, comparing how both inventors grow and learn through persistence and creativity.
