Alphabet and Beginning Sounds Write the Room Scavenger Hunt

This resource includes three different “Write the Room” scavenger hunt activities: Letter Matching, Uppercase and Lowercase Matching, and Beginning Sound to Letter Matching. Each recording sheet comes with three differentiated versions to support the needs of diverse learners.

This activity is easy to set up and can be left in place for independent work, learning centers, early finishers, entry tasks, or to incorporate movement in the classroom.

To begin, choose which “Write the Room” scavenger hunt you would like your students to complete. You may also run multiple activities at the same time. Place or tape the picture or letter tiles around the classroom for students to find.

Using the appropriate recording sheet, students will search for the matching picture tiles and record the corresponding label on their sheet.

The recording sheets are provided in three formats:

• Solid tracing for pre-writers
• Dotted tracing for students who are beginning to learn letter formation
• Blank lines for students who can copy and write independently

This differentiation allows the activity to be adapted for learners at different writing levels.
