Christmas Word Mapping Segmenting and Encoding

This Christmas themed beginning encoding resource is great for beginner readers who are working on hearing individual phonemes in words and matching them to graphemes and learning to spell. There are over 30 picture cards covering the spelling patterns: CVC, CCVC Initial Digraphs, and CVCC Final Digraphs. Students will flip a card, dot the phonemes in the toy sacks, then spell the words with alphabet manipulates, and then write the words. This would make a great phonics center, small group activity, individual practice, morning bin material, Montessori Shelf work, or early finisher activity.
