This week, students will read and explore Come On, Rain! by Karen Hesse as they learn about patience, hope, and finding joy in everyday moments. Through discussion, vocabulary, and story analysis, students will focus on describing how characters respond to changing events and identifying feelings throughout the story. Learners will explore themes of anticipation, community, and appreciation while recognizing how weather and shared experiences can bring people together. Students will also read The Big Umbrella by Amy June Bates as a connected text, exploring how kindness and inclusion can help everyone feel welcomed and cared for.
