Helpers in My Community by Bobbie Kalman

This week, students will read and explore Helpers in My Community by Bobbie Kalman as they learn about the many important roles community helpers play in keeping people safe and healthy. Through discussion, vocabulary, and informational text analysis, students will focus on identifying text features and understanding how descriptions help explain key ideas. Learners will explore themes of responsibility and service while recognizing the value of different professions in their own communities. Students will also read Whose Hands Are These? by Miranda Paul as a connected text, comparing how both books highlight the important work people do to help others.
