The Three Little Pigs by Mara Alperin

This week, students will read and explore The Three Little Pigs by Mara Alperin as they follow the pigs’ efforts to build houses and protect themselves from the wolf. Through discussion, vocabulary, and story analysis, students will focus on retelling the story in sequence by describing key events and explaining what happens first, next, then, and last. Learners will build an understanding of how repeated patterns help structure a story and make it easier to remember and retell. Students will also read The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka as a connected text, comparing the different points of view and exploring how perspective can change the way a story is understood.
