Garden Themed Unit Measurement

With this resource, you’ll introduce unit measurement in a hands-on, concrete way. Using the included 1-inch tiles/measuring strips, students measure the height or length of the provided objects (from bold line to bold line), then count the number of units to determine how long or tall each item is. This builds foundational understanding of measurement before transitioning to using a ruler.

A measurement recording sheet is included for learners who are ready to write and record their numbers.

Detailed lesson plans are included to help you introduce, expand, and deepen this concept as students become increasingly confident and proficient with non-standard measurement.
