This week, students will read and explore 
Wombat Divine by Mem Fox as they follow Wombat’s journey of trying out for different roles in the Christmas pageant and discovering where he truly belongs. Through discussion, vocabulary, and story analysis, students will identify key events in the beginning, middle, and end of the story and describe how Wombat’s feelings and motivations change as he faces challenges and continues trying. Learners will build confidence and self-awareness while exploring themes of perseverance, friendship, and finding their “just right” role. Students will also read Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andreae and Guy Parker-Rees as a connected text, comparing how both characters overcome self-doubt and learn to embrace their unique strengths.
